A mostly pictorial stroll free of history lesson!
Itinerary
We started in Monterosso (town 5) and walked to Vernazzo (town 4)
Quick stroll, coffee and lunch in pizzeria seemingly under the water (Ree felt seasick)
Can't walk to town 3 (trail closed) so take the next train to town 1 Riomagiorre
Quick stroll but Can't walk to town 2 (lovers trail closed) so train to town 2 then and then walk the detour trail 6 to town 3
Train from town 3 Corniglia back to Monterosso.
Whew.
Ready for action |
Steps a plenty |
Looking back at Monterosso |
Where the walk takes us |
Feel the serenity |
The first waterfall |
Quick rest |
The walk goes on |
Don't poo in my backyard please |
First view of Vernazza |
Whew - going the right direction |
We have arrived |
One more flight of stairs |
A few other people walk the streets of Vernazza |
Sowing the flood damage |
Just like the hanging Octopi of Greece but in pizza dough |
Got the train to Rio.... |
Train to Manrola coz lovers walk was fermé |
I like saying this |
Water fountain |
Leaving Manarola |
The sea was angry that day my friends! 1km down the path, the track was closed....needed to go back and find track #6 |
On the way up the detour of path 6 |
Just after the summit at ghost town Volastra |
Corniglia in the distance |
Tiredness does odd things to a girl |
The hiking was a lot more physically demanding than I expected. There were stairs a plenty, rocky, uneven paths, mud and water. Coming in to Corniglia is almost straight downhill with the final bit a series of switchbacks to test the strength go spindly legs.
Sheesh |
Day is done |
Tomorrow - Milan then onto Lauterbrunnen
