The Honky Tonk piano man

Itinerary

  • V&A
  • South bank
  • The honky Tonk man and his family

The V&A is mint - if you are Ree and Zoe. If you are me or Drew......well, after a bit of a look around, we had fun timing how long it took Drew to run across the steps at the front of the museum.

Hats at one of the V&A shops

Enough said. Off to Southbank. Fun, bustling, buskers, strollers, joggers, suits and ties, tracksuits, all sorts of fashion, many overweight children eating icecream, skateboarders.....

Display of working doorbells.

London summer

Bubble busker

Pretty sure this is the first carousel I have seen that goes clockwise?

Horse names

Look who is back

Wonder if in the future it will be tables with lots of Kindles?

Soapy bubble hands

Hanging with Joe. One of Rees oldest friends, Joe Leach is a musical savant who now runs a recording studio in London. He went to Hollywood high school (which nobody believes if you don't come from Perth) but was born in the UK and has now returned to be in London.

For a while many years ago, Joe made extra cash being the honky Tonk piano busker guy in the city. Can pretty much play anything by ear (not with his ears as far as I understand).

The kids enjoyed being around other kids, we enjoyed being around other adults and we laughed, told stories and some of us had a few cocktails. Joe got a birthday cake"ish" and we all got to watch 2yr old Fabien run away like Drew used to do at that age.

Joe and 2 yr old Fabien

Fabien (briefly still) and Bibe

Joe explaining the brilliance of Sinatra

Mira - completely gorgeous until asked to smile. Drew's headband connects to a helium balloon.

Zozo as always terrific with younger children

Bye-bye London

We stood outside our lovely Notting Hill Apartment on Pembroke Gardens and felt sad to be leaving. For a while we weren't - leaving that is, because the car meant to pick us up didnt arrive.

Bring bring, bring bring

Them: Hello "Useless Hopeless Car Service can I help"

Me: "Hello, we are waiting for a car I booked last night, but it hasnt arrived yet".

Them: "Correct Sir"

Me: "Excuse me?"

Them: " It will be arriving tonight at 7:30pm sir"

Me: "But I booked it for 7:30 in the morning"

Them: "Our mistake Sir"

Me: "Correct"

Its very hard to slam down a mobile phone.

Got a cab.

7:29am

Enough
